The last quarter final match for the Weighill Trophy saw Hanson E go down to Hanson B 3 – 6. This win was mainly due to Trevor Whitelock (B) who won his three, although only just against Jonny Macey 16-21, 21-18 & 15-21 and then against Rhys Jones 17-21, 21-16 & 16-21. Graham Audin (B) won two as did Karl Jones for the E team.

In Division 1 the two man team of Hanson A were unfortunate to lose 4 – 6 to Pumas as both teams won the same number of singles, whilst Hanson won the doubles. Richard Fettes won two for Pumas and Peter Henderson won two for Hanson. The doubles proved an exciting match with Hansons Dan Geary & Peter Henderson narrowly defeating Pumas Richard Fettes & Shaun Carver 11-7, 5-11, 11-6, 9-11 & 11-9.

Hanson C just managed to beat the two man team of Wallop Wanderers 8 – 2. Dom Raymond played very well for Wanderers and won two, but unfortunately his enthusiasm was not match by his playing partner. Jamie Smith won his two for Hanson.

Tigers only managed a 7 – 2 win against Figheldean due to both teams having only two players. Andy Snellgrove and Malcolm Cummins won two each for Tigers, as well as taking the doubles.

A long outstanding match in Division 2 was between Test Valley A and the league leaders Enham. The 3 - 7 result showed the battling spirit of the Test Valley team with Oliver Raymond, Adam & Ray Lockington all winning one each. Andy Farmer, who is too good for this division, won his usual three, ably supported by Peter Farmer with two.

The Andover Closed Tournament commenced on Friday with Cadets, Juniors and Ladies matches. In the Cadets the No.1 seed and last years finalist Rhys Jones had to work hard in the final to defeat Simon Przeklasa in five games, 5-11, 11-9, 8-11, 11-8 & 11-2. In the Juniors No.1 seed Mike Cartridge held off the spirited challenge of Dominic Raymond, winning 13-11, 9-11, 11-8 & 11-8. The clear favourites for the Ladies Doubles Marie Dyke & Nicky Downs eventually came through winners against Jill Cook & Val Fox, but not without a shock, winning in four games, 11-4, 11-4, 14-16 & 11-8.
