Andover Advertiser Report 240314

The second semi-final of the Advertiser Cup saw Test Valley A sweep to victory over Hanson A who, unfortunately for them, had to give an 18 points start to their opponents. It started well for Hanson A when Matt Selwood lost to Peter Henderson 19-21 & 18-21. However, Test Valley quickly took over the match taking the next five sets. Oliver Raymond played very well to win his three, whilst Cameron Langdown won two and Matt one. Peter managed a hard fought win over Cameron 21-8, 20-21 & 19-21, but by then the match was over.

Test Valley A now go on to play Hanson C in the final.

Pumas kept up the pressure at the top of Division 1 with an 8 – 2 win over the two man team of Hanson Lions. Richard Fettes won his usual maximum for Pumas, but Zac Hine played very well for Lions, defeating Shaun Carver 9-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-2 & 9-11 and Danas Kairys 9-11, 7-11, 11-3, 11-6 & 8-11.

This keeps Pumas at the top of the table 9 points ahead of Tigers who have played one less game.

Figheldean produced a good 7 – 3 win over Hanson C, with Tony Brown, Julie Dean and Lionel Coles all winning two each. Unlucky Andy Barnes won his three for Hanson C and in the process avenged a early season defeat by Lionel. Only Jamie Smith looked like winning any more sets for the C team when he just lost to Julie 6-11, 6-11, 11-7, 13-11 & 11-3.
