Andover Advertiser Report 23-11-15

In Div 2 Test Valley A were unfortunate to only have two players, but despite that they produced a great performance, just being defeated 6 – 28 by 3D’s. The youngsters from Test Valley are improving every week, as Rachel Hicks unfortunately found out when beaten by Annabel Anderson 11-3, 11-6, 8-11 4-11 11-9, then by Harry Scobie 11-6, 9-11, 11-13, 11-8, 11-7. The experience of Marie Dyke and Nicky Downs proved too much, as they both won their two, as well as the doubles.

Hanson Lions maintained their place at the top of the table with a 25 – 11 win against Hanson Falcons. Mike Bonarius won three for Lions with Darren Walkom getting two and Jill Cook one. For Falcons Jason Cullip won two but only just managed to beat his previous team mate Jill 13-11, 7-11, 7-11, 11-3, 5-11, and Simon Prosser got one.

In only their second season Hanson Pidgeons are keeping up the pressure at the top of the division, recording a 25 – 16 win against Enham, which reversed last years score. Pete Farmer (Enham) and Roy Horner won one set each. Nathan and Adam Shears (Pidgeons) won three sets each, but both had to go to five games to beat Pete. Young Daniel Abbott played up as a reserve for Pidgeons and managed to beat Patrick Baker 9-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-9. The doubles proved to be a very close encounter when Nathan & Adam took on Roy & Pete. Enham took the first two games 10-12, 8-11, but back came Pidgeons to take the next two 11-8, 11-9. The final game got to 9-9 before Pete managed to snatch defeat from possible victory by serving into the net twice!!

 

The only match this week in Div 1 was between Hanson Cougars and Hanson Leopards, which provided an excellent win for Leopards 14 – 23. Rob Macey (Leopards) won three which included a good 6-11, 7-11, 11-4, 9-11 win over Chris Stockdale. James Clark (Leopards) took two and Pete Dyson one, whilst for Cougars Chris managed two and Nick George only one. Leopards proved too good in the doubles, with Rob and James producing some great shots and winning in four games.
