Andover Advertiser Report 02-02-15

Hanson Lions of Division 2 lost to Enham in a very close match which finished 21 – 23. Honours were fairly evenly distributed with Mike Bonarius & Jonny Macey (Lions) and Pete Farmer & Roy Horner (Enham) all winning two sets each. It was so even five sets went to five games, four sets went to four games and only one set was three straight.

Hanson Falcons beat Test Valley ‘A’ 29 – 7. However the ‘A’ side certainly pushed their opponents in the first half of the match with four sets going to four games, before Lewis Reed managed to beat Val Fox 11-7, 9-11, 11-7, 11-13, 9-11. Falcons had Jason Cullip and Sarah Medland to thank as they both won three sets each, with Val winning two.

A similar match occurred when Hanson Pidgeons lost 7 – 29 to 3D’s. Whilst Marie Dyke and Nicky Downs won all their three sets for 3D’s, unfortunately Brian Dyke lost to Simon Przeklasa (Pidgeons) 12-10, 11-7, 7-11, 11-8.

In Division 1 Hanson Jaguars were well beaten 10 – 26 by Pumas who lead the table from Hanson ‘A’ and Tigers (who have three games yet to play). Richard Fettes (Pumas) won all his three sets, but Ray and Shaun Carver only managed two sets each. Trevor Whitelock (Jaguars) again proved how well he is playing this season when he defeated Ray, then held off Shaun before winning in five sets 11-5, 11-8, 8-11, 9-11, 11-3. However, Jaguars had an excellent win in the doubles, when Sue Purton & Trevor beat Richard & Shaun 11-8, 6-11, 6-11, 12-10, 11-9.
