In Division 2 the young teams of Hanson Pidgeons took on Test Valley ‘A’ with Pidgeons recording an excellent 30 – 1 result. Nathan Shears (Pidgeons), Adam Shears and reserve Daniel Abbott all won three, but Alex Dennis (TV ‘A’) fought hard and did take a game off Daniel.
Hanson Lions just managed an 18 – 14 win against Hanson Kestrals. Ross Walkom, Darren Walkom and Mike Bonarious all won two sets each for Lions, but the man of the match was Kestrals Mark Pettengell, who won all his three sets. Ross Walkom played well against Will Cooper to record a good 11-8, 13-11, 7-11, 7-11, 11-8 win, but then teamed up with Darren and lost the doubles 11-13, 6-11, 6-11 to Will & Mark.
Falcons lost to 3D’s 10 – 23 with Nicky Downs (3D’s) and Marie Dyke both winning three each. Simon Prosser and Harry Rice both won one each for Falcons. The closest game was undoubtedly between Val Fox (Falcons) and Rachel Hicks (3D’s) which resulted in Rachel’s first win 10-12, 11-13, 14-12, 11-5, 10-12.
Hanson Pumas of Division 1 managed to overcome the two man team of Hanson Jaguars 29 – 6. Richard Fettes and Andy Whitcher both won two each, whilst Justin Shoemark only managed one, having succumbed to Trevor Whitelock (Jaguars) 5-11, 5-11, 11-9, 11-7, 6-11. Justin & Andy eventually took the doubles defeating Trevor & Graham Audin 11-7, 11-3, 7-11, 8-11, 11-7.
Hanson ‘A’ had a very close match with Figheldean and recorded a creditable 25 – 16 win. Starring for the ‘A team Peter Henderson won his three sets, supported by Dan Geary and Steve Rollason who both won two apiece. Brian Cook won one for Figheldean, as did Julie Dean when she defeated Dan 6-11, 3-11, 11-6, 11-8, 7-11. The experienced team of Dan & Peter took on Julie & Lionel Cole in the doubles and surprisingly lost 13-11, 11-6, 5-11, 8-11, 8-11.
