Andover Advertiser Report 7-11-16

Hanson Pumas recorded a convincing 25 – 9 win over their Div 1 opponents Hanson Jaguars. For Pumas Justin Shoemark and  Richard Fettes both won three each, whilst Eddie Shoemark only won one. Trevor Whitelock and Sue Purton won one each for Jaguars having both beaten Eddie.

Hanson ‘A’ claimed a 30 – 3 victory against 3D’s with Dan Geary, Peter Henderson and Steve Rollason all winning three sets. However, Dan did have to work hard to overcome Mark Pettengell (3D’s) before taking the set 11-7, 8-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-4.

3D’s also went down 28 – 8 to Figheldean, but Mark Pettengell did manage to win two sets, although both went to five games. For Figheldean Lionel Cole won three with Julie Dean and Brian Cook taking two each.

With the main table lights not working Figheldean lost their way against Hanson Cougars, going down 6 – 28. Andy Barnes (Cougars) and Tony Brown took three each with Nick George getting two. Lionel Cole only managed one for Figheldean.

 

In Div 2 Enham played Hanson Lions, but lost 11 – 26 with only Pete Farmer and Roy Horner winning one set each. Mike Bonarius won three for Lions with Ross and Darren Walkom both winning two each. Pete Farmer could consider himself a little unlucky as he went down in five games against both Mike and Ross.

Hanson Eagles are flying along quite nicely, recording a 23 – 11 win against Hanson Falcons. It might have been worse for Falcons had not Brian Fox not won his three sets. Two each for Yannick Rachel, James Clark and Danial Arthur saw Eagles take the points. The game of the match was between two ex Div 1 players with Brian just overcoming the stern challenge of James winning 8-11, 11-6, 8-11, 12-10, 8-11.

Test Valley Penguins did well against Hanson Pidgeons but lost 4 – 29. For Pidgeons Adam and Nathan Shears won three each with stand-in Ross Walkom winning two. Alex Dennis (Penguins) is improving fast and notched up an impressive win over Ross 11-9, 9-11, 4-11, 12-10, 11-9.
