In Division 1, third placed Hanson ‘A’ were swept aside by leaders Hanson Pumas 5 – 28. Richard Fettes and Andy Whitcher won three sets each for Pumas, with Justin Shoemark winning two. Surprisingly Steve Rollason was the only winner for Hanson ‘A’ when he defeated Justin 14-12, 5-11, 14-12, 11-2.
Second placed Figheldean comprehensively beat Hanson Leopards 24 – 9. Julie Dean and Lionel Coles both won three for Figheldean, but Brian Cook could only manage one when he beat Pete Dyson 11-5, 7-11, 11-4, 13-15, 11-5. For Leopards Rob Macey and James Clarke both got one set each.
Hanson Jaguars defeated Hanson Panthers 26 – 13, thanks to three from Trevor Whitelock and two each from both Sue Purton & Graham Audin. Karl Jones and Dave Broomfield both managed one each for Panthers, although Dave had to work very hard to record an excellent win over Sue 10-12, 11-4, 9-11, 11-8, 10-12. Trevor had a similar match against Karl but came through 7-11, 7-11, 11-4, 11-4, 11-5, whilst Graham just held off Dave 7-11, 11-6, 9-11, 11-4, 11-8.
Division 2 leaders 3D’s comfortably beat Test Valley ‘A’ 24 – 9, but this counted as a very major improvement for Test Valley ‘A’. Marie Dyke (3D’s) and Nicky Downs as expected won their three sets. However it was good to see Harry Scobie, Alex Dennis and Annabel Anderson (TV ‘A’) take one set each, all just managing to beat Rachel Hicks in four games.
Hanson Falcons were defeated by Hanson Lions 9 – 24. Lions had Darren Walkom to thank as he won his three, whilst Mike Bonarius and Ross Walkom managed just two each. Simon Prosser (Falcons) played very well to win two, especially against Mike whom he beat 6-11, 11-7, 11-9, 5-11, 11-7.
