Division 4 season kicked off with Challock E and Sportsmen C tying 5-5 and with Player of the Match Don Stedman and Chris Hazelden losing the doubles to force the tie.  Ruckinge F’s new signing of POM Chris Penning helped his side to a 6-4 win over Clubmates Ruckinge F. A draw was just missed when Helen Mattock forced Stewart Turley to 5 sets, losing 11-7 at the end.   Ashford D lost 7-3 to Challock E but the match was evenly poised until the last 2 games with experienced Don Stedman pipping Glen Walters 12-10 in the fifth and winning the doubles with team mate and POM Chris Hazelden.  Ruckinge F continued their fine form by recording a 9-1 victory over Sportsmen C,  and swiftly following that up with a 10-0 win against Ashford D and, once again with Chris Penning as POM in both matches.   Youngsters Ashford E have yet to record a win losing their first two matches against Ruckinge G and Sportsmen C.    Hamstreet B beat Challock E  8-2 with Chris Hazelden picking up a win against Tim Woodhouse and then joining up with Don Stedman to win a close fought doubles against POM Stuart Whorlow and Tim Woodhouse.   Ruckinge G beat Ashford D  6-4 despite Ian Tomlin having to forfeit two games due to injury and with POM Helen Mattock underlining her return from knee surgery last season by taking all three of her games.    Challock E had a good tussle with Ruckinge F despite the 8-2 result. Richard Partridge forced talented Clive Wilkinson to 5 sets but couldn’t conquer POM Chris Penning who beat him in three.   Ruckinge G took on neighbours Hamstreet B and ended up with a 5-5 draw after an early lead by the G Team.  All changed when the experienced David Smith arrived and took his three, making him POM , followed by Stuart Whorlow and Tim Woodhouse beating  Joe Latty and Helen Mattock in the doubles.
