PREMIER DIVISION TEAMS PROSPER
The second round of group matches in the Aylesbury Table Tennis Fank Mitchell Handicap competition took place recently. Although it is early days to pinpoint any favourites, Haddenham D and Tring C from Division Two have emerged as potential winners of their groups. Haddenham D won by 12 points against Bishopstone D with Tring flattening Brill A by 48 points. There were some close encounters none more so than Bishopstone C’s win by 1 point against their Division Two rivals, Sports F.
With Premier Division Teams entering the fray, the task became harder for the lower Division Teams. Quainton A eclipsed Quarrendon C by 63 points and Ridgeway A overcame Haddenham F by 20 points. Bellingdon had a comfortable 26 point victory against Brill B and Sports B, using reserves from Division One and Three, overcame Risborough B by 44 points, despite a spirited performance from David Simpson who managed a draw and a win. The hardest match was Haddenham A facing Quarrendon B who had a massive 358 point handicap advantage. Andy Misseldine, Mark Scott and Darren Palmer had to work very hard taking the match right to the doubles before succeeding by 3 points. Ed Lock, Tim Berendt and Peter Fyles for Quarrendon never gave up in the face of top class table tennis and should be congratulated for their part in a spirited match.
