The new Barrow and District Junior League completed its first season this Autumn. Nine teams played matches each Tuesday evening at St Bernard's High School. Teams consisted of two players. Due to absences and illnesses 25 players took part. Each match night began with individual practice followed by some coaching, then a match. Most of the juniors hadn't played competitive games before, so it was great to see them developing tactics as well as learning how to umpire and how to play doubles. There were many very competitive games and lots of exciting rallies.
At the Presentation evening players who had made great progress or achieved outstanding results were awarded medals. The following teams and players were presented with trophies -
League Winners - "The Hunters" (Sophie and Oliver). Won 7 out of 8 matches with 67 points.
Runners up - Double H Dq (Harrison, Hughie, Alex) Won 7 out of 8 matches with 54 points.
Individual Player Winner - Harrison with 15 wins from 16 matches (94%)
Best Participant - Didi
