Chronicle Report 18th Dec 2014

At the halfway point in the season the Division 2 promotion
places are being hotly contested. One of the teams in contention is Bear Flat A
and they improved their chances by recording a fine 9-1 away success against
Bathford D, whose only point came from Mark Davis. Peter Gibbs and Andrew
Steady both claimed trebles for the visitors, with Justin Johnstone adding a
pair.

Key Centre B also registered a good away win, by 7 games to
three over Bath Civil Service, for whom Dave Hogg’s brace provided the only
singles successes. Dave Carter starred for the victors with a hat-trick, but he
was well supported by Mark Tanner and Sue Ruse who won two games each.

In the Chippenham derby in the Premier Division, the C team
overcame the B team by seven games to three. Andy Cox was man of the match with
a maximum for the C’s, and their other singles wins came from Alan Feltham (2)
and Phil Bevan. Paul Vincent, Andrew Perham and Mark Plowright shared the points
for the bottom side.

Chippenham A moved back into pole position with an emphatic
9-1 home win against Key Centre A, whose sole point resulted from Peter Galea’s
win over Roy Cary. Terry Parkins and John Clifford were both unbeaten for the
hosts.

In Division 1 Yatton Keynell maintained their challenge at
the top of the table by beating Batheaston A 8-2 away from home. The Terrell brothers
(Richard and Mark) both carded trebles for the leaders, and Bob Portlock added
a further point. Peter Smith and Richard Cotton won a game each for the hosts.

Newbridge remain bottom despite recording a 7-3 win against
two-man Mayfield, for whom Nigel Woolley claimed two singles points. Gary
Sartain starred for the victors with two wins from two, with Brian White and
