Chronicle Report 22nd Jan 2015

The Bathford derby in Division 1 saw the B team beat their
counterparts from the C team 6-4. Braces from Jules Truss and Richard Gaisford,
a solitary win from Peter Whipp, and victory in the doubles made up the points
for the B team. The C team responded through Russell Cole (2) Julian
Kashdan-Brown, and Richard Wickham.

A splendid treble from Ian Clark was not enough for
understrength Ensleigh who were defeated 7-3 by high-riding Yatton Keynell B.
Mark Terrell, Steve Richardson, and Bob Portlock all beat Ping Zhang to ensure
the win for the Wiltshire team.

In Division 2, Key Centre B did well to defeat title
challengers Oldfield E 6-4 at home. Dave Carter maintained his excellent recent
form with another maximum for the hosts, whose other points came from Mark
Tanner (2) and Sue Ruse. Keith Walter (2) and Lee Bailey won games for Oldfield.

Bear Flat A recovered from last week’s defeat to Bathford E
to record a good 6-4 away victory over Yatton Keynell D. Andrew Steady and
Peter Gibbs both carded pairs for the visitors, with Trevor Floyd adding
another singles point. Adam Dawes and Richard Trubody claimed the points for
the hosts with a brace apiece.

Oldfield A kept in touch with the Premier Division leaders
by defeating their B team 7-3, with Dave Bartlett claiming a treble, and Mark
Woodcock and Bob Hindle both adding pairs. The B team’s points were provided by
Dennis Coombe (2) and a win in the doubles.

Bathford A retained second place by virtue of a narrow 6-4
home win against a two-man Chippenham C team, with Scott Cooper and Alan
Feltham both claiming braces for the visitors. Albert Bolhuis took the plaudits
for the hosts by winning his two singles games, to enhance the default points
and a doubles victory.
