Chronicle Report 10th Dec 2015

The Bathford derby in Division 2 went the way of the promotion chasing D team as they triumphed 7-3, but it was the E team’s Mark Davis who stole the show with an excellent hat-trick. Russell Cole, Richard Wickham, and Julian Kashdan-Brown all carded pairs for the victors.

Bear Flat A beat Chippenham D 8-2 at St John’s School, to hold on to top spot. Paul Green starred for the leaders with a maximum, and there were also braces from Andrew Steady and Justin Johnstone. John Maloney and Jim Wheeler earned a point each for the visitors.

Radstock Wreckers dismissed Batheaston B 10-0 to remain just behind Bear Flat A, but with a match in hand. Wayne Button, Steve Moss, and Paul Crocker were Radstock’s undefeated trio.

Premier Division leaders Chippenham A extended their lead by comfortably beating nearest challengers Oldfield A by eight games to two at Langley Burrell. Alan Champneys beat Jerry Musselwhite and John Clifford to win the two points for Oldfield; however he could not overcome star man Terry Parkins, who claimed a treble.

There was another Bathford derby in Division 1, which saw the young C team defeat their B team club-mates 8-2. Ethan Littlejohns took the honours with a hat-trick for the winners, although he was well supported by Oscar Teasdale and Ben Jukes who registered doubles of their own. Steve Phillips and Colin Thomas replied with a game each for the B team.

Mayfield’s David Galley was too hot for unbeaten Bath Invaders as he claimed a fine maximum. However, the title challengers were determined to maintain their proud record – coming back from 5-3 down to earn a draw, with Neil Darnley and Ray Hall carding braces to supplement victory in the doubles. Nigel Woolley and Steve Tanner won the other two points for Mayfield, who were left still searching for their first win of the season.
