Chronicle Report 17th Dec 2015

Premier Division champions and current leaders, Chippenham A, had to work hard to maintain their 100% record, but managed to overcome Radstock Working Men’s Club A 6-4 at Radstock. Dave Montano and Derek Landricombe both did well to record braces for the hosts, including a notable win for the latter against Terry Parkins. However, Parkins and John Clifford carded pairs of their own for the leaders, along with a single game from Roy Cary and success in the doubles.

Bathford A won by an emphatic nine games to one at home to Yatton Keynell A, whose only point was scored by Keith Holland. Albert Bolhuis and Bruce Dearling both registered trebles for the victors; with Ray Bennett adding a further two games.

In the Division 1 contest between the two promoted teams, Bathford C had a resounding 9-1 home success against Yatton Keynell C, whose single point was gained by Adam Dawes by virtue of win against Oscar Teasdale. Ben Jukes and Ethan Littlejohns claimed maximums for the fast improving home team.

Bath Invaders consolidated their position in the top two by beating bottom team Batheaston A 8-2 at St John’s school. Neil Darnley was the star man for the victors with a hat-trick, and Ray Hall and Simon Monks both carded pairs. Dennis Townsend and Gary Sartain replied with good wins for the visitors.

Key Centre B extended Division 2 high-flyers Radstock Wreckers before the away team edged the match 6-4, despite Brent Pollard’s excellent treble and a further point from Mark Tanner. Wayne Button and Steve Moss registered a brace apiece for the Wreckers, with Dan Walker also winning a game.

Jim Wheeler’s maximum was the main reason why Chippenham D returned from Batheaston with a share of the spoils against the village’s B team. Phil Gentle and Norman Thomas claimed doubles for the hosts, with Mel Henry adding their other point. Bryan Williams won the other singles point for Chippenham.
