Chronicle Report 10th Mar 2016

The top two teams in Division 2, Radstock Wreckers and Bear Flat A, had to settle for a share of the spoils after a tremendous tussle at Radstock. Man of the match was Bear Flat’s Paul Green, who kept his 100% record intact, and his three points were supplemented by a single game from Andrew Steady and victory in the doubles. Dave Gamlin and Steve Moss registered a brace each for the hosts, with Wayne Button adding their other point.

The Bear Flat B team bettered their club-mates with a 6-4 success away to Bathford E. Gary Oaten and Trevor Floyd both carded maximums for the victors, whilst John Holding, Kai Ball, and Tony Parr won a game each for Bathford.

Two-man Premier Division leaders, Chippenham A, suffered a rare defeat; 7-3 away to Key Centre A. Martyn Le Butt won both of his games for the home team, with Peter Galea also claiming a point. Terry Parkins (2) and Roy Cary replied for the visitors.

Bristol Civil Service had an emphatic 9-1 win at home to Oldfield B, whose single point was earned by Dave Ashley. Dominic Costello and Steve Tainton finished with trebles for the hosts, and Andy Cooper a pair.

Chippenham C beat Bathford B 6-4 at Langley Burrell in Division One, leaving them just one point behind Bath Invaders at the top of the table. Paul Vincent took the plaudits for the home team with a hat-trick and there were further wins from Mark Plowright (2) and Bryan Taylor. Colin Thomas’s brace was best for the visitors, whose other points came from Steve Phillips and the doubles.

Adam Dawes registered a splendid treble for Yatton Keynell C at Frys, but his team went down 6-4 as only Wilf Adams could add to his tally. Martin Moore and Phil Turner both won pairs for Frys, with Fred Martin also claiming a game.
