Chronicle Report 7th Apr 2016

Radstock Wreckers are in pole position to pip Bear Flat A to the Division Two title after a 7-3 home success against Key Centre B left them 4 points ahead with one match each left to play. Wayne Button took the honours for the Wreckers with a treble, while Dave Gamlin (2) and Paul Crocker also won games. Mark Tanner (2) and Sue Ruse earned points for the visitors.

Bottom team Bathford E registered a rare win, beating Oldfield E 6-4 away from home, with Mark Davis, John Holding, and Kai Ball all carding braces. Keith Walter’s hat-trick, plus victory in the doubles, was not enough for the home team.

In a re-arranged Premier Division derby, two man Oldfield A beat their B team club-mates 7-3, meaning that Bob Hindle and Alan Champneys were both unbeaten.

Key Centre A visited Bristol Civil Service and won 6-4, thanks to a maximum from Peter Galea, a pair from Martyn Le Butt, and a point for the doubles. Mark Kinlocke replied for the hosts with a brace, and Steve Tainton and Andy Cooper won a game apiece.

Bath Invaders are now firm favourites for the Division One title as they are level on points with Chippenham C with two games to play, to Chippenham’s one. Coincidently, all three of those matches involve Bathford B.

Invaders boosted their chances with an emphatic 10-0 away win against bottom team Batheaston A. Ray Hall, Simon Monks, and Neil Darnley were the undefeated trio.

Chippenham C had an altogether more difficult challenge away to Frys, and had to settle for a 6-4 win. Mark Plowright, Andy Perham, and Bryan Taylor each won pairs for the away team, whilst Fred Martin (2) and Phil Turner claimed points for Frys.
