Chronicle Report 8th Feb 2018

Division two’s basement team Chippenham E had no answer to Yatton Keynell D in their away match and went down by thirty points to three, with Steve Rodda the only player to register. Jon Freeman, Bob Portlock, and Edward Lea were the host’s winning trio.

Ensleigh B and Bathford E were involved in a much closer contest at St. John’s school, which resulted in a 20-17 win to Bathford. Mark Davis’ maximum proved pivotal for the victors, whose other points were earned by Tony Parr (5) and Evan Holding (3) plus three from the doubles. Brendan Rouse led the home team’s response with seven points, and Richard Smith (5) and Dawn Turner (3) were also on the scoresheet.

Premier division leaders Chippenham A inflicted a heavy 27-6 defeat on visiting Oldfield B, for whom Paul Redman’s 5 points was their only success in singles. Rick Jemmott and Gary Baldwin both carded the full 9 points for the home side, with Terry Parkins chipping in with six.

Ali Pearson claimed maximum points as Oldfield D overcame their two-man A team club-mates 21-15 at Monkton Combe. Alex Porter (2) and Steve Andrews also added points to those forfeited, whilst Cec Davis (8) and Madhusudana Ramakrishna (7) responded for the A team.

Unbeaten teenager Will Avery claimed another maximum in Bathford C’s 16 apiece away draw with Bear Flat A in division 1. Colin Thomas added 6 further points for the visitors, whilst Paul Green (6) Andy Steady (4) and Justin Johnstone (3) were on the mark for the hosts.

Radstock B were made to work hard for a 26-17 home win against Mayfield in a marathon affair. Wayne Button was their star man with a hard earned 9 points, but Dan Walker and Mark Bennetts offered excellent support with 8 and 7 points respectively. Mayfield replied through Dave Galley (7) Nigel Woolley (6) and Steve Tanner.
