With only two more matches to go before the halfway point of the season in the Bolton Table Tennis League the gap between the top three teams in the Premier continues to close. At the top Glodwick took on Ramsbottom Town B winning 23-12 with nines from Khamal Hussain and Kristoph Pinter. Second-placed Ramsbottom Town A maintained their form with a 26-8 win over Nomads with nines from Michael Moir and Andrew Jackson. Flixton Cricket Club A likewise had a 24-7 win against Ladybridge A with nines from Phillip Bowen and Stephen Scowcroft. Mid-table Radcliffe Cricket Club maintained their position with a 25-5 win over Hilton A with nines from Gabriel Wilding and Brian Hallsworth. At the lower end of the table, Wharton beat Burning Desire 19-15 despite a resisting nine from Brett Haslam.

In Division One top team Ramsbottom Town C had a maximum points win 27-8 win over Meadow Ben A. Second placed Hilton B only just scraped a win 18-17 against Farnworth SC A with an expected resisting nine from John Hutchinson. Third-placed Coburg had their win over Hilton C 24-7 with nines from Chris Naylor and Steve Hathaway. Fourth-placed Hilton D turned over their bottom of the table E team 27-2. A mid-table clash between Wingates and Heaton Cricket Club A had Wingates taking it 20-12 despite a resisting nine from David Hall.

Way out in front in Division Two Bolton TTC A continued to make their mark with a convincing maximum 27-4 win over third from the bottom Farnworth SC C. Second placed Polonia Club also continued their success with a 22-15 win over mid-table Heaton Cricket Club B assisted by nines from Kryspin Zajac and Dawid Kakol. St, Paul’s Peel in third place had an unexpected set back losing 18-16 to the team just below them Ladybridge B, despite the expected resisting nine from Lee Devenport. Mid-table Meadow Ben B took advantage of bottom of the table Farnworth SC B to win 19-13 helped by a nine from man of the match Mike Heaton. Likewise, Meadow Ben C had a 17-16 win over Brass Zone assisted by a nine from their man of the match Ian Wheeldon. A mid-table clash between Top Spinners and Bolton TTC B just below them had Bolton TTC just taking it 17-16 thanks to a nine from Peter Douglas.

Division Three’s unbeaten Walkden Methodists continued their campaign with a surprising maximum 27-7 trouncing of second-placed juniors Hilton H. Third placed Hilton F maintained form with a 23-12 win against lower Farnworth SC D with nines from Malcolm Wilcock and Jeff Saunders. Fourth-placed Meadow Hill A won against mid-table Ladybridge C with nines from Roy Caswell and Roy Platt. A mid-table clash between Irlam Steel and Hilton G below them had Irlam running out winners 17-13 helped by a nine from David Yates. Second from the bottom Albany lost out 20-14 to mid-table Meadow Ben D with a nine from Meadow’s Neil Cowburn. In ninth place, Polonia Club B had their second win of the season beating bottom of the table Meadow Hill B 24-4 with nines from Karolina Mucha
