The Bolton Table Tennis League ended play for 2017 last week with the Individual Divisional Championships to find the best player and runner-up from each division from those who entered.

In the Premier Division there were twelve players who played round robins in three groups of four. In the semi-finals Majid Tubassum played Kristoff Pinter winning 13 – 11, 11 – 7, 8 – 11, 11 – 7. In the other semi Amirul Hussain beat Khamal Hussain 11 - - 1, 11 – 9, 7 – 11, 11 – 7. Amirul Hussain then took on Majid Tubassum in the final winning 4 – 11, 11 – 8, 11 – 8, 11 – 9

Division One had nine entries. After two groups of round robins, a semi-final had Allan Cowley beating John Davies 11 – 8, 11 – 8, 11 – 8, and in the other semi Derek Watmough beat Chris Naylor 11- 5, 11-6, 12-10. In the final Allan Cowley overcame Derek Watmough 11 – 5, 6 -11, 11 – 9, 13 – 11.

In Division Two there were only four entries which was all player by a round Robin with Dave Jones as the winner and Stephen Gao runner-up.

Division Three had thirteen players. This was played as a round robin of three groups. In one semi-final Jai Makino beat Martyn Rolling 11 – 5, 11 – 8, 11 – 3 and in the other Ian Raby beat Jeff Saunders 11-4, 11 – 5, 9 – 11, 11 – 2. In the final Jai Makino beat Ian Raby 11 – 6, 11 – 9, 11 – 5.

The New Year kicks of promptly with the second round of the Divisional Cups week commencing January 1st although since these are cup matches they can be played any time by agreement before the next round week commencing February 19th.
