Bolton News 29th November

Last week in the Bolton Table Tennis League Ramsbottom Town A took advantage of the fact that Glodwick have not quite been having things completely their own way of recent weeks, to draw joint level with them on points at the top of the Premier table. Ramsbottom took on mid-table Ladybridge and steamrollered to a 27-0 victory. Meanwhile, Glodwick played Hilton A winning 22-16 helped by a nine from Majid Tubasum. Third-placed Flixton Cricket Club A, ten points behind, beat Radcliffe  Cricket Club 24-9 with nines from Stephen Scowcroft and Paul Chicchelli. Fourth place Ramsbottom Town B met bottom of the table Burning Desire winning 23-13 with nines from Ryan Choong and Brian Clements. A mid-table match between Wharton and Little Lever Cricket Club A had Little Lever taking it 25-14 assisted by a nine from Phil Riley.

Division One’s top team, unbeaten Ramsbottom Town C, continued their campaign with a 21-10 victory over much lower team Hilton C with nines from Martyn Holt and Tommy Ryan. Second joint placed Coburg also won 21-14 against Little Lever Cricket Club B. Second joint placed Hilton B just missed out to Ramsbottom Town D 17-15 with Ramsbottom’s David Kay steering them to victory with nine points. Two mid-table clashes had Hilton D just pipping Meadow Ben A 20-15 and Wingates just outplaying Farnworth SC A 18-13 thanks to a nine from John Bradbury. Mid-table Heaton Cricket Club A overpowered bottom of the table Hilton E 22-10 assisted by a nine from David Hall.

In Division Two, top team Bolton TTC A maintained their form with a 27-15 win over mid-table Top Spinners assisted by a nine from Nayem Alam. Second-placed Polonia Club A are now really making their mark in this division just missed out 17-15 to Bolton TTC B despite a resisting nine from Kryspin Zajac. Mid-table Meadow Ben B lost by one point 20-19 to Ladybridge B who now sit just one point above them in the table. John Birchall provided nine for Ladybridge. Mid-table Brass Zone had a 25-7 win over third from the bottom Farnworth SC C with nines from Phil Petts and Matthew Brown.

In Division Three unbeaten Walkden Methodists march on relentless with a 24-10 victory over Irlam SC with nines from Carl Bennet and Steve Kelsall. Juniors Hilton H in second place missed out allowing their own F team below to close the gap to one point difference. A resisting nine came from the H team’s Jei Makino. Fourth-placed Meadow Hill A kept up the pressure with an 18-15 win over mid-table Hilton G despite a resisting nine from Martyn Rolling. A mid-table clash between Ladybridge C and Meadow Ben D just below them had Ladybridge taking it 22-10 with a nine from Brian Greenhalgh. Albany third from the bottom had their third win of the season against a hapless bottom of the table Meadow Hill B 27-4.
