Bolton News 9 October

The two top teams in the Premier Division both continued on with determination and extracted maximum points from their opposition. Ramsbottom Town A trounced Radcliffe Cricket Club 27-5 while Flixton Cricket Club A gave Hilton A a good beating 27-8.  Flixton Cricket Club B also came out on top 22-8 over Nomads with nines from Keith Deaville and Tony Bates. Wharton just managed to outplay Hilton B 19-15 with a nine from Barry Elliott.

In Division One the two top runners both had wins one point short of maximum scores. Burning Desire on the comeback trail beat Farnworth Social Circle A 26-5 with nines from Brett Haslam and Ben Armstrong while new team Wigan TTC beat Ramsbottom Town D 26-14 with nines from Daniel Watkinson and Tony Whitney. Third-placed Polonia Club A marched on with a 22-11 win over Hilton C with nines from  Lukasz Serdiuk and Dawid Kakol.  Fourth-placed Coburg beat Wingates 24-13 with nines from Derek Watmough and Chris Naylor. There were wins too at the bottom of the table. Bottom team Hilton D managed a 23-12 win against Little Lever Cricket Club B while second from the bottom Meadow Ben A had a good win 20-9 over Heaton Cricket Club A despite David Hall putting up the resistance to get the nine points.

In Division Two, top team St Paul’s Peel beat Hilton Top Spinnners 21-13 with the usual nine from Lee Devenport. Just below them Meadow Ben B beat Hilton F 23-12 helped by nine from Mike Heaton. Mid-table teams Heaton Cricket Club B  had a 21-11 win over Polonia Club B with nines form Martin Hulton and David Jones and Hilton E beat Farnworth Social Circle B 19-14 despite a resisting nine from Matthew Kennedy. Promoted Walkden Methodists have yet to break their duck this time going down to Ladybridge B 24-10.

Strangely enough, the Derby between top team Meadow Hill C and their own mid-table D team in Division Three resulted in the D team just taking the honours 20-18.  Second-placed Polonia Club C beat Irlam Steel Social Club although David Yates rallied the resistance with a nine for Irlam. Meadow Hill A who were just below them had their first defeat of the season against last year’s relegated Farnworth Social Circle C, who now in joint third place, must have their eye on a swift return to Division Two. However, they have yet to play the two teams above them. Albany had a good 24-12 win over juniors Hilton I. Meadow Hill B had their first win of the season 18-13 largely due to nine from new signing Scott Brown who had been on the sidelines in previous weeks awaiting a team to take him on. Farnworth Social Circle D had a minor flood making the room unusable so their match against Ladybridge C will be played in due course.
