Bolton News 18 December

The Bolton & District Table Tennis League had a week off from matches last week as the Individual Divisional Championships took place. In the semi-finals of the Premier Division, Jacop Reilly-Cooper, ex Wharton, had a tough five-setter against Wigan TTC’s  Paul Clark playing up from Division One, but Jacob eventually won out 11 – 5, 3 – 11, 9 - 11, 11 – 9, 12 – 10.  In the other semi-final, Daniel Watkinson also from Wigan TTC was up against Nomads’ Charles Musa which produced another five-setter with Charles eventually taking it 4 – 11, 11 – 3, 13 – 15, 11 – 6, 11 – 5.  Charles then went on to beat Jacob in four sets winning 11 - 6, 11 – 8, 7 – 11, 11 – 9.

In Division One, the match was played on a round robin of two groups. It was a very close affair between the finalists, but in the end, Chris Naylor of Coburg played Mathew Fishwick from Hilton D to take it 11 – 6, 7 – 11,  11 – 9, 11 – 8.

The first semi-final in Division Two produced an interesting dual between newcomer to the scene Jei Makino and long stander Lee Devonport who usually wins most of his matches in this Division. Once again it was another five setter with Jei just taking it at the final fence 6 – 12, 11 – 5, 11 – 6, 11 – 8, 12 - 10. The other semi had Votchej  Sanc of Polonia Club B overcoming Matthew Kennedy 11 – 6, 14 – 12, 11 - 9.  Votechej then went on to beat Jei in the final 11 – 9, 11 – 9, 11 – 6.

Division Three was played on a round-robin basis with Elena Cecilia Tepelus from Farnworth Social Circle D taking it with the most wins and Martyn Rolling of Hilton G coming a close second.
