Last week the Bolton Table Tennis League took a break from League matches while the last sixteen teams battled it out in round three of the Warburton Cup. The top half of the draw was now combined with the bottom half.
Radcliffe Cricket Club and Hilton C are playing later, but with the few results in so far, Division Two’s Bolton TTC A and B were drawn against each other. Results swung backwards and forwards throughout the match. However, Sam Greehalgh in the B team only conceded two of his twelve games. That together with the B team’s 72.5 start enabled them to take the match 415.5 – 322.0. Division Two’s Meadow Ben C were at home to Division One team Wingates. Wingates put up a good show with Dave Smith winning all but two of his twelve games as did Alan Bradbury with Atul Sheth just losing three. However, Meadow Ben C had come into the match with a 149.5 start, which Wingates just failed to overcome going down 427.5 – 384. Hilton E and F were also drawn together. Division One’s Hilton E got four more games than their Division Three’s F team. However, Hiltons F’s start of 121.5 was by far enough to enable them to move on to the next round winning 455.5 – 338.
The quarterfinals round takes place week commencing 19th February which is half term week. They will be joined by the quarterfinals of the Divisional Cups being played alongside in the same week.
