Glodwick appear to be in an unassailable position at the top of the Premier Division in the Bolton Table Tennis League. Last week they took apart Flixton Cricket Club B 27 – 2. Third-placed Flixton Cricket Club A had a good 20 – 11 win over Nomads despite a resisting nine from Matthew Gold. Fourth-placed Ramsbottom Town B had a 27 – 0 win gifted to them by Hilton A. In Division Three top of the table Walkden Methodists had a comfortable week meeting bottom of the table Meadow Hill B, who did try and make an impression, but went down 24 – 9 with nines from Wakden’s Richard Whittleworth and Carl Bennett. Second-placed juniors Hilton H marched on against Irlam Steel SC winning out 24 – 6 with a nine from Hilton’s Jei Makino. Only three points behind them, Hilton F outplayed Meadow Ben D 26 – 5 with nines from Jeff Saunders and Malcolm Wilcock. Fourth-placed Meadow Hill A had always beaten Albany, so turned up expecting some cheap points only to be confounded and hamstrung by a rejuvenated team that beat them 22 – 18.
