A great Danish performance by duo

Louis Price and Naphong ‘Poww’ Boonyaprapa were both on the podium twice at the Danish International tournament.

Together, they won the Cadet Boys’ Team competition, Boonyaprapa took gold in the Mini-Cadet Boys’ Singles and Price was runner-up in the Cadet Boys’ Singles.

In the team event, the pair combined to win two of their three group matches, defeating Norway Region East III 3-0 and Hvidovre 3-0, but losing 3-1 to Viby/Hvidovre.

In the next stage, they won all three matches, including a 3-2 victory over Hilleroed which was clinched by Boonyaprapa defeating William Falkenstjerne Beck 3-2 (2-11, 11-6, 11-7, 5-11, 11-9) in a tie in which four of the five matches went to a decider.

It put them into the semi-finals, where they gained revenge over Viby/Hvidovre by a 3-1 margin with two wins for Price and one for Boonyaprapa and a close defeat in the doubles by a scoreline of 3-2 (3-11, 3-11, 13-11, 12-10, 13-15).

In the final they faced the first-string Norway Region East team. Boonyaprapa was defeated in the first match but Price’s victory and the doubles put England 2-1 ahead.

Norway’s Alexander Klerck Fransson beat Price to notch his second victory of the final, but Boonyaprapa overcame Daniel Halsteinli 3-1 (11-6, 5-11, 12-10, 11-5) to seal gold for England.

In the singles, second seed Price won all three group matches and two knockout rounds to advance to the semi-finals, where he defeated Viktor Oksfeldt 3-2 (11-9, 5-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-9). He met top seed Fransson again in the final but was beaten 3-0 (11-3, 11-6, 11-6).

In the Mini section, Boonyaprapa was top seed and won his two group matches and made his way through the knockouts to the semi-finals, where he saw off Sofus Andreasen 3-0 (17-15, 11-7, 11-3). In the final, he faced David Lund Heinig and, after losing the first game, prevailed in a prolonged second and went on to win 3-1 (10-12, 19-17, 11-4, 11-5).
