Bolton News 13th November

Ramsbottom Town A in the Bolton & District Table tennis League didn’t have it quite all their own way as the met Nomads. They had a comfortable 19-15 win with no players of either side able to achieve maximum points. This allowed second-placed Flixton Cricket Club A to close the gap with a full point 27-6 win over Little Lever Cricket Club A. Both teams are now neck and neck on 190 points. Ramsbottom Town B hang onto third place despite having an open date. Fourth-placed Hilton A took their own B team to task 25-12 with a nine from Kieron Beswick. Fifth-placed Flixton Cricket Club B took advantage of second from the bottom Ladybridge A 25-10 with a nine from Tony Vaughan. Radcliffe Cricket Club’s room was unavailable due to a function clear-up. Their match against Wharton will take place next week.

Division One’s top team Burning Desire had a maximum point 27-6 win over mid-table Little Lever Cricket Club B. Second placed Wigan TTC had a comfortable win over Wingates 23-11 with nines from Paul Clark and Daniel Watkinson. Polonia Club A move up into third place. They had a 17-15 win against Hilton D assisted by nine from Lukasz Serdiuk. Now fourth-placed Ramsbottom Town D had a 19-13 win over Farnworth Social Circle A despite a resisting nine from John Hutchinson. In fifth place, Coburg lost out 16-13 to second from the bottom Heaton Cricket Club A whose David Hall produced a nine. Meadow Ben A just beat Hilton C just above them 23-14 helped by a nine from James Bollard.

Top of Division Two Bolton TTC took bottom team Walkden Methodists to task with a 25- 5 win with nines from Peter McCormick and Nayem Alam. Hilton E in second place have a result to come. St. Paul’s Peel hang onto third place with a 21-7 win over Farnworth Social Circle B helped by the usual nine from Lee Devenport. Mid-table teams Ladybridge B and Heaton Cricket Club B drew 18 each with John Birchall on nine for Ladybridge. Third from the bottom Brasszone overcame second from the bottom Hilton F with a creditable 26-6 score with nines from Roger Bertrand and Jim Bolton.

In Division Four top team Meadow Ben C lost ground as they surprisingly went down 18-10 to fourth-placed Farnworth Social Circle C who had a nine from Ben Wyatt. Meadow Ben D hang onto second place as they overcame ninth-placed Hilton H 19-15 helped by a nine from Philip Calvert. Now moving into third place, Meadow Hill A took advantage of second from the bottom juniors Hilton I 25-6 with nines from Roy Platt and John Nuttall. Third from the bottom Ladybridge C gave themselves a boost beating bottom team Meadow Hill B 26-8 assisted by nines from John Hilton and Robin Llewellyn. Sixth-placed Polonia Club C had their third defeat in a row, this time against ninth-placed Farnworth Social Circle D Whose David Wyatt and Pete Walker both produced nines.
