Bolton News 13 November

Last week top team in the Premier Division of the Bolton & District Table Tennis League, Flixton ppong A resumed full form and extended their lead a little with a full 27 – 3 score beating of Burning Desire who have now dropped to sixth place. Meanwhile, second-placed Ramsbottom Town A  had a 24 – 10 win against Coburg  A. Third-placed Fixton ppong B also had success with a 23 – 10 win over Radcliffe TTC helped by nine from Anthony Bates. Fourth-placed Wharton, who in previous seasons were almost fighting relegation, beat Hilton A, one place below them,  19 – 16. Mid-table Ramsbottom Town B just beat tenth-placed Ladybridge A 18 – 16 despite a resisting nine from Stephen Barber. Mid-table Little Lever Cricket Club A took advantage of bottom team Hilton B 22 – 11 assisted by nine from Graham Jeffries.

In Division One, Polonia Club A move top with a 26 – 12 win against mid-table Hilton C with nines coming from Marian Bleho and Vojtech Sanc. Second-placed Ramsbottom Town C, who have a match in hand to be decided by the Committee, beat fourth-placed Little Lever Cricket Club B helped by nine from Martin Holt. Third-placed Coburg B gave Hilton D their third loss on the trot 25 – 4, with nines from Ian Quin and Chris Naylor. Seventh-placed Wingates beat Meadow Ben A two places below them 20 – 17 helped by nine from John Bradbury. Eighth-placed Heaton Cricket Club A just lost out to second-bottom North West Lions 17 – 15 despite a resisting nine from Heaton’s David Hall. Tenth-placed Hilton E took advantage of bottom team Farnworth Social Circle A 22 – 14 despite Iain Lindley putting up nine points resistance.

Farnworth Social Circle C topping Division Two had an open date while second-placed Ramsbottom Town  D just lost out 18 – 16 to seventh-placed Heaton Cricket Club B despite a resisting nine from James Wormwell. Hilton Hawks in third place had a 19 – 15 victory over sixth-placed Meadow Ben B 19 – 15 assisted by nine from Peter McCormick. Hilton Top spinners in fourth place beat bottom team Brass Zone 23 – 10 helped by nine from Gary Hilton. Fifth-placed Ladybridge B  were beaten by ninth-placed Farnworth Social Circle B 19 – 16 with Farnworth’s Martyn Garnett on nine. Second-bottom Lostock Tennis Club were able to capitalise on Hilton F two places above them, who only had two players 20 – 11.

Confident leaders in Division Three, Farnworth Social Circle D had a good win over fourth-placed Meadow Ben C 24 – 11 with Elena Cicilia Tepelus and Pete Walker on nines. Second-placed Polonia Club B with a game in hand beat Ladybridge C 25 – 8 with nine coming from Henryk Michalowski. Third-placed Albany, a much-improved team on previous seasons, beat Hilton H 23 -12 with nines coming from Stephen Lawless and David Barrow. Two mid-table teams, Hilton I and Meadow Ben D had a 15 – 15 draw, with Hilton’s Jamie Sutcliffe getting his usual nine. It was a showdown of the two bottom teams. Unfortunately, Bolton Hindu Forum could only manage two players allowing Meadow Hill Tennis Club to move above them winning 23 – 10.
