Bolton News 6 November

Last week the Bolton & District Table Tennis League resumed League play after a break for cup week. In the Premier Division, top team Flixton ppong A were held back a little by fifth-placed Hilton A who managed to get 13 points which is the highest number of points any team has achieved against them so far this season. Flixton won 21 – 13 assisted by nine from Pawel Orzechowski. Second-placed Ramsbottom Town A were able to catch up a little with a full points 27 – 4 win over tenth-placed Radcliffe TTC. In third place, Wharton had a 21 – 13 win over second-bottom Ladybridge A with Dean Walmsley on nine for Wharton. Third-placed Flixton ppong B  also had a 26 – 10 success over ninth-placed Little Lever Cricket Club A with nines from Jordon Potts and Keith Deaville. A mid-table clash between Burning Desire and Coburg A  had Coburg just taking it 18 – 17 helped by nine from Kyan Chin. Eighth-placed Ramsbottom Town B had the edge over bottom team Hilton B 19 – 15 assisted by nine from Brian Clements.

Top of the table Ramsbottom Town C in Division One caused Hilton D in second place to have their second loss 26 – 10 with nines coming from Ramsbottom’s  Martin Holt and Robert Bent. Third-placed Coburg B had a 23 – 15 win over mid-table Heaton Cricket Club A helped by nine from Chris Naylor. A mid-table clash had Hilton E just beating Meadow Ben A 19 – 14 with Ben’s David Holden putting up resistance with nine.

Way out leaders in Division Two, Farnworth Social Circle C beat eighth-placed Heaton Cricket Club B 21 – 15 helped by nine from Ben Wyatt. Second-placed Ramsbottom Town D just lost out 18 – 17 to fourth-placed Ladybridge B with nine from Ladybridge player John Birchall. Fifth-placed Meadow Ben B overcame ninth-place Brass Zone 23 – 14 with nine coming from Ben’s Mike Heaton. Seventh-placed Hilton F just pipped third-placed Hilton Hawks 16 – 15 and second bottom Farnworth Social Circle B  just beat bottom team Lostock Tennis Club 16 – 14 with the help of a nine from Martyn Garnett.

In Division Three Farnworth Social Circle D who are well ahead of the pack had a 24 – 8 win over eighth-placed Ladybridge C helped by nine from Pete Walker. Second-placed Polonia Club B had a shock defeat against fifth-placed Albany 21 – 12 with nines coming from David Chadwick and Les Welch. In third place, Meadow Ben C had an open date while fourth-placed Hilton G beat mid-table Meadow Ben D due to nine coming from Hilton’s Ian Raby. Mid-table junior team Hilton I capitalised on bottom team Meadow Hill Tennis Club with a 22 – 11 win with nines coming from Shaun Faulkner and Harry Farnworth. Bolton Hindu Forum had their best result so far this season despite losing 19 – 17 to Hilton H with Rob Culf taking nine for Hilton.
