Bolton News 27 November

Last week in the Bolton & District Table Tennis League normal league play resumed after cup week. It will take a lot for Ramsbottom Town A to catch Flixton ppong A after Ramsbottom’s shaky start to the season, but last week they narrowed the gap by beating tenth-placed Burning Desire with a 27 – 3 full points win. Flixton ppong A had a 22 – 12 win over fourth-placed Wharton with Stephen Scowcroft and Pawel Orzechowski on nines.  Adam Thompson has now been moved permanently to the Flixton ppong A team. In third place Flixton ppong B had an 18 – 15 win against eighth-placed Coburg A despite a resisting nine from Kyan Chin. Fifth-placed Hilton A had a close 19 – 17 win over Ramsbottom Town B one place below them helped by nine from Andrew Michnowiec. Seventh-placed Little Lever Cricket Club A managed a 21 – 16 success over second-bottom Ladybridge A assisted by nine from Graham Jeffries. Radcliffe TTC helped to keep themselves away from the relegation zone with a full points 27 – 9 win over bottom team Hilton B.

Ramsbottom Town C are top of Division One after having their first match of the season decided by the Committee. However, they lost out to second-placed  Polonia Club A 22 – 14 with Polonia’s Lukask Serdiuk on nine. Third-placed Little Lever Cricket Club B beat Coburg B a place below them 23 – 16 assisted by nine from Ian Lansdale. Fifth-placed Hilton D had a good 27 – 5 full points win over next bottom team North West Lions. Sixth-placed Wingates lost out to Hilton E three places below 21 – 17 thanks to nine from Hilton’s Raymond Isherwood. Eighth-placed Meadow Ben A just pipped Heaton Cricket Club A a place above them 17 – 16.

Way ahead of the rest in Division Two, Farnworth Social Circle C beat third-placed Ramsbottom Town D 22 – 15 assisted by nine from Ben Wyatt.  Hilton Hawks in second place beat Hilton Top Spinners in fourth position 17 – 15 helped by nine from Peter McCormick. Fifth-placed Meadow Ben B came unstuck against ninth-placed Lostock Tennis Club who won 18 – 14 helped by a nine from John Nuttall. Sixth-placed Heaton Cricket Club B just managed a 20 – 18 win over Farnworth Social Circle B two places below them.

In Division Three top team Farnworth Social Circle D had an open week while second-placed Polonia Club B were beaten by fourth-placed Meadow Ben C 22 – 13 helped by nine from Debbie Wilson. Albany moved up a gear into third place with the defeat of second-bottom Meadow Hill Tennis Club 27 – 8. Fifth-placed Hilton G beat junior team Hilton I in eighth-place 22 – 8 assisted by nine from Ian Raby. Mid-table Meadow Ben D had a 22 – 10 over bottom team Bolton Hindu Forum helped by nine from Steven Robertson. Mid-table Ladybridge C managed their third win of the season beating Hilton H 22 – 15 assisted by nine from John Hilton.
