Bolton News 14 January

Last week in the Bolton & District Table Tennis League the second half of the league season began with reverse fixtures.

In the Premier Division, the leaders Flixton ppong A steamed ahead with a full points 27 – 3 beating of ninth-placed Ramsbottom Town B while third-placed Flixton ppong B held second-placed Ramsbottom Town A back by just pipping them 19 – 18. Fourth-placed Wharton were beaten by seventh-placed Little Lever Cricket Club A 21 – 14 despite a resisting nine from Barry Elliott. Fifth-placed Hilton A had a good 20 – 11 win over Radcliffe TTC helped by nine from Andrew Michnowiec. Mid-table Coburg A had an easy 26 -5 win over second-bottom Ladybridge A with nines from Charles Musa and Kyan Chin. Eighth-placed  Burning Desire took advantage over the bottom of the table Hilton B with a full-points win 27 – 8.

Top of Division One, Ramsbottom Town C triumphed 24 – 12 over the bottom of the table Farnworth Social Circle A assisted by nine from Terry Taylor. Second-placed Polonia Club A  beat second-bottom North West Lions 24 – 12 with nines from Ivan Kouril and Lukasz Serdiuk. Third-placed Coburg B also won against Hilton C 20 – 13 while fourth-placed Little Lever B drew 18 – 18 against Meadow Ben A in position nine. Nine points came from Meadow’s John Bostock. Mid-table Hilton D overcame their own E team in tenth-place 26 – 7 helped by nine from Mathew Fishwick. Also, mid-table Wingates beat Heaton Cricket Club A, one place below them 23 – 10 assisted by John Bradbury on nine.

Farnworth Social Circle head Division Two. Their C team had a convincing win over Hilton F 25 – 7 with Christopher Lord and Ben Wyatt on nine. Second-placed Ladybridge B were just able to beat Hilton third-placed Top Spinners 18 – 16 helped by John Birchall on nine. Fourth-placed Hilton Hawks had an open week while fifth-placed Heaton Cricket Club B just lost out 17 – 16 to Meadow Ben B two places below them. Sixth-placed Ramsbottom Town D dispatched second-bottom Farnworth Social Circle B 21 – 10 assisted by James Wormwell on nine. Eighth-placed Lostock Tennis Club were able to take advantage over bottom team Brass Zone 25 – 10 with John Nuttall and new player Andrew Johnson on nine.

Farnworth Social Circle also head Division Three with their D team on expected form against ninth-placed Hilton H and a full points 27 – 5 win. Second-placed Meadow Ben C  also had a full points win taking advantage over second-bottom Meadow Hill Tennis Club  27 – 4. Third-placed Albany overcame Hilton G one place below 21 – 16 helped by nine from Les Welch. Fifth-placed Polonia Club B had an open week while sixth-placed Meadow Ben D  beat the team below them, Ladybridge C 24 – 10 with nines from Steven Robertson and Neil Cowburn. Eighth-placed Juniors Hilton I were able to take advantage of the bottom of the table Bolton Hindu Forum 26 – 7 with nines from Harry Farnworth and Jamie Sutcliffe.
