Bolton News 18 March

Last week in the Bolton Table Tennis League, there was little change at the top of the Premier as top team Flixton ppong A beat fourth-placed Hilton A 25-5 with nines from Stephen Scowcroft and Tony Worthington while second-placed Ramsbottom Town A beat Radcliffe TTC 24-10 with nines coming from Michael Moir and Andy Jackson. Since 51 points now separate the top two, Flixton are almost certain to be champions. Third-placed Flixton ppong B surprisingly just got pipped by mid-table Little Lever Cricket Club A 18-17 with Fixton’s Jordan Potts putting up the resistance with nine points. Fifth-placed Wharton took advantage of second-bottom Ladybridge A 26-8 with nines from Jason Pilling and Martin Wyatt. Mid-table Coburg A ran out winners over Burning Desire two places below them 22-12 with nines from Kyan Chin and Charles Musa. Tenth-placed Ramsbottom Town B beat bottom team Hilton B 25-9 helped by nine from Ashley Bradburn.

In Division One top team Ramsbottom Town C have a result to come against fourth-placed Hilton D. Second-placed Polonia Club A over-ran bottom team Farnworth Social Circle A who only had two players 21-9. Third-placed Coburg B lost out to mid-table Heaton Cricket Club A  20-16 while fifth-placed Little Lever Cricket Club B beat Hilton C 23-12 with nines coming from Ian Landsdale and Paul Tatlock. Mid-table Wingates had a comfortable full points win 27-8 over second-bottom North West Lions and mid-table Meadow Ben A  overcame Hilton E 20-12.

Division Two’s leaders Ramsbottom Town D only just scraped home 18-16 against mid-table Ladybridge B with John Birchall putting up resistance for Ladybridge with nine points. Second-placed Farnworth Social Circle C lost out to Heaton Cricket Club B beating them 21-11 assisted by nine from Martin Hulton. Third-placed Hilton Hawks were victors over Hilton F 20-16 helped by nine from Peter McCormick. Fourth-placed Meadow Ben B lost out to ninth-placed Brass Zone 20-12 due to nine points from Michael Brierley. Mid-table Lostock Tennis Club just pipped second-bottom Farnworth Social Circle B 16-15.

Farnworth Social Circle D still head Division Three. They had a comfortable win over eighth-placed Ladybridge C with nines from Elena Cecilia Tepelus and Pete Walker. Second-placed Polonia Club B had a 22-10 win over fifth-placed Albany helped by nine from Henryk Michalowski. Third-placed Meadow Ben C had an open date while fourth-placed Hilton G beat Meadow Ben D 24-9 with nines from Ian Raby and Malcolm Wilcock. Hilton I in seventh place overcame second-bottom Meadow Hill Tennis Club 21-13 with nines from Shaun Falkner and Jamie Sutcliffe. Ninth-placed Hilton H took on a two-man Bolton Hindu Forum lying bottom winning 23-9.
