Match Report

Some very entertaining match-ups ensued when Graves Park C took on stable-mates Graves Park A with the C team coming out on top 8-2 on the night. Graham Walters was the only unbeaten player on the night, although he had to work hard for it! After beating Phil Brooks in straight ends in his first match, it was hard going from that point forward! Against Alan Reetham it was anyone's game with both players trading ends before Graham took the decisive fifth end 11-7 and then it was arguably the game of the night when Graham took on No. 7 ranked Rob Smith, in his last ever match in the Boston League before retiring to the Isle of Wight. Rob took the first two ends 10-12, 8-11 before Graham took a close third end 11-9. In the fourth end Graham got into a bit of rhythm, winning 11-6 to take it to a decisive fifth end. This was a titanic battle with two in-form players going at it hammer and tongs before Graham blotted Rob's copybook, Graham taking close fifth end 11-9. With James "Quinno" Quinton and Martin Walters bagging two victories apiece over Alan Reetham and Phil Brooks, all that was left to play was the doubles, the two Walters brothers taking on Rob and Phil. In probably the most entertaining match of the night, there was never more than two points between them as the match went the full distance but it was the C-Team who took a close decisive end 15-13 and with it the 8-2 victory.
