DEFENDING CHAMPIONS OPEN THEIR ACCOUNT

It was never going to be an easy start for Stickney with their opening home fixture being against defending champions Lodgers J. Brian Hill filled in for Brett Heppenstall and was in sparkling form, comfortably winning all three of his singles in straight sets. However, it wasn't completely plain sailing for Lodgers J, Paul Hartnett taking both Alan Ashberry and Chris Christoforou the full distance before running out of steam and Andy Birks also took Chris Christoforou the full distance. It was a tougher night for Vince Lozynsky, who I am sure will have better nights in the matches to come. In the doubles, the Lodgers pairing of Alan and Chris ran out comfortable winners against Andy and Vince to take home the spoils in a 0-10 win on the night.
