Match Report
A NIGHT OF NETS & EDGES!
A thoroughly entertaining match occurred when Lodgers C welcomed Wrangle and although the scoreline suggests otherwise, there was some really close matches. Steve Allen was the player of the match, once again winning all his singles in straight ends although Sam Cooper was unlucky not to take the first end in a match-up that had the most nets and edges I have ever seen! Scott Sykes, once again played wing-man, also taking his three matches but had a titanic battle against Pete Evans, coming from 1-2 down to take the next two ends 11-8, 11-6. Andy Pocklington had a mixed night, winning a topsy-turvy first match against Sam Cooper, doing well to come from 1-2 down to take the next two 11-5, 11-7. However, he was outdone by a canny Pete Evans and a resurgent Dave Coulson. The doubles, as is often the case, was the arguably the match of the night. Sykes/Allen took on Cooper/Evans in what was a classic encounter. The Wrangle duo took first blood by taking a tight first end 9-11 before Sykes/Allen hit back by taking the next two 11-8, 11-5 but Cooper/Evans stormed back to take the fourth 6-11 and were 4-8 in the fifth but Sykes/Allen dug deep to come back and take the fifth 11-8 and with it an 8-2 victory on the night.
