BLADES INFLICT HEAVY DEFEAT ON LODGERS B!

  In the battle of the bottom two, on paper, a close match was expected, however, Lodgers Blades had other ideas! In a must win match for both teams, Blades came away with a resounding and comfortable win with Lucas East the standout player on the night. Blades captain Simon Raistrick got the team off to the best possible start by beating Gary Jaques in the first singles and followed that up with a four set victory over Richard Baxter but he couldn't celebrate a hattrick with Trev Blackbourn spoiling his party, taking an incredibly close five set match 13-11 in the fifth. Darron Kent got his first hattrick of the season, taking all of his single, dropping just two sets to Trev and Gary respectively. Lucas East though was in inspired form, beating Gary Jaques and Richard Baxter in straight sets before winning a titanic tussle with the wily Trev Blackbourn in five to end a fine evenings work. The doubles was the match of the night with Baxter/Blackbourn taking on East/Raistrick and with the Blades duo coming from 2-1 down to take the fourth end 12-14 before rounding off a great night, taking the fifth 9-11 to come away with a resounding 1-9 victory.
