RAISTRICK THE MAIN MAIN!

   Simon Raistrick put in a player of the match performance to give his team the chance of a rare victory in the league against their higher placed opponents. Simon was in excellent form, beating Alan Reetham in four and the returning Martin Walters in straight ends. He was also involved in arguably the match of the night against James "Quinno" Quinton - with the first four ends shared it went to a tense decider but it was Simon who just came out on top, taking it 13-11. Darron Kent added one point with an excellent straight sets victory over Martin Walters and just missed out on a second point against Alan Reetham, Alan taking the decisive end in a five set marathon 14-16! However, despite taking the first end 11-5 against Quinno, he came unstuck in the next three with Quinno taking them 8-11, 6-11, 7-11. Lucas East had a similar evening, beating Alan Reetham in straight ends, losing to Martin Walters in four and then had a ding-dong battle with Quinno, taking him the full distance before losing 6-11 in the fifth. With the match poised at 5-4 in favour of the Blades, the doubles took on extra significance with Raistrick/East teaming up against the established Walters/Quinton combination - and the extra experience showed, with the Park duo winning in four to earn themselves an entertaining draw.
