HONOURS EVEN AT THE BOTTOM!

  It was an entertaining draw as the bottom two teams faced off against each other. In the singles, Simon Raistrick was the player of the match, winning all of his singles dropping just two ends against Richard Baxter and Colin Bell respectively. The fast improving Lucas East added two, with excellent wins against Richard Baxter and a five-set battle with Colin Bell and was unlucky not to have his hattrick, losing 11-13 in the fifth against the wily Trev Blackbourn. It was a tougher night for Gavin Read though, who battled hard but had nothing to show for his efforts. With the score poised at 5-4 in favour of the Blades, the doubles provided extra significance and it turned out to be a close affair with the first four ends shared, but Baxter/Blackbourn had the upper hand in the fifth, taking it 5-11 and with it a hard earned draw on the night.
