BAXTER & BELL TAKE POINTS OFF LODGERS C!

  Steve Allen returned to the side after working away to anchor Lodgers C on their way to a 2-8 victory on the night. Steve raced through his singles in straight sets with aplomb although Richard Baxter could consider himself unlucky not to take an end off him, losing 13-15 in the third with some excellent attacking play. Scott Sykes backed him up, also taking all his singles in straight sets with Colin Bell coming the closest to taking an end, losing 10-12 in the first end. Andy Pocklington started the night well coming from one set down against Trev Blackbourn before taking the next three 10-12, 9-11, 2-11. However, in his second match Colin Bell battled back from 0-2 down to come through 11-7, 11-5, 11-8 with some lovely all round play. Richard Baxter then rubbed salt in Andy's wounds by getting the win his play deserved by winning in straight sets. In the doubles Sykes/Allen came through in straight sets against Baxter/Bell.
