Match Report

ALL SQUARE AT THE PARK!

Graves Park D got their season off to a steady start with a 5-5 draw to a strong Sibsey team. Paul Matschull was the player of the match winning his three singles and dropping only two ends in the process. Sibsey's Mick "Five End" Ellis lived up to his name in a ding-dong battle with Mick Dodes with Mick Ellis taking the deciding fifth end 11-9 then followed that up with a straight sets victory over Dave Walters.  Neil Snaith of Sibsey matched his team mate with straight set victories over both Mick Dodes and Dave Walters but couldn't get the better of Paul Matschull. It was a lot of hard work with nothing to show for it for the unlucky Roger Hooton though, losing two very tight five-enders against Mick Dodes and Dave Walters, losing both 11-9 in the fifth! With the match poised at 5-4 for the Park, Sibsey needed to pull something out of the bag in the doubles, which they duly did, with Neil and Mick Ellis being too strong for the Park duo of Mick Dodes and Dave - Sibsey winning in straight sets to earn themselves a 5-5 draw on the night.
