TOUGH START FOR NEWBIES!

Mayflower welcomed league newcomers Boston Squash Club for their first match of the 2018/19 season and it was quite the eye-opener for the new team. Dave Tennent got the Squash Club off to the best possible start, going the full distance with veteran Tony Hall, with Dave surrendering a two leg lead before getting the better of Tony in the deciding end 4-11. However, that was as good as it got unfortunately for the Squash Club with the Mayflower team of Tony Hall, Wayne Grooby and Chris Cooke using all their experience to take the remaining singles in straight ends. Special mention must go to Dave Hill and Nikki Eden-Smith though, with both battling hard and getting very close on a few ends. I am sure as the season progresses so will their results improve. In the doubles, Dave and Nikki took a close first end 10-12 before Wayne and Chris took the next three ends 11-4, 11-8, 11-4 for a 9-1 victory on the night.
