Most of you will be aware that a new plastic ball is being introduced this season. All major events will be played with it but individual leagues were allowed to retain the old balls if they wished. The Braintree League has decided to introduce the new ball straight away as a number of our players play in higher competitions, and we have also heard that neighbouring leagues are intending to move to the new ball immediately.
The summer league, which starts next week, will use the balls for the first time and all teams are asked to make sure that they have balls available for the winter league, which is expected to start in the second week in September.
I sought advice from Teessport and Bribar, who advertise in our handbook. Only Bribar replied and they have recommended the XSF ball. An independent blogger, Ben Larcombe, who runs the Expert Table Tennis site, has also recommended them.
They are available from Bribar at £6.50 for 6 balls, £75 for 72 and £114.99 for 120. They are also available elsewhere, of course, but if you do order them from Bribar, I'd be grateful if you could mention you are from the Braintree League to help ensure they continue to advertise with us.
