Match Reports

Brandon B v Sacriston Desperadoes Monday 28th September 2015

Brandon B had a mixed night against Sacriston Desperadoes. The player of the match was Jamie who won all three of his points in convincing fashion, only dropping one game. Caroline managed to win two more points to bring Brandon's final score to 5-5. Overall, there was a lot of hard fought games and in the end neither team was dominant over the other. The result keeps us in the top 3 of a very competitive league!!

Brandon A v Ouston B Monday 28th September 2015

Brandon A had a difficult fixture against a team they have struggled against in the past. This was to be the case again. Jamie made a massive commitment to the Club by playing in 2 matches on one night!! 6 games!! Potentially 30 ends!! He was 9-6 up in the fifth and final end against the very experienced Jeff McKenna but couldn't get across the line, losing 11-13 in a quality match.  John S who had just learned his car had been badly damaged whilst in for work at a dealership understandably took some time to settle in but picked up a very important point, dominating his last match to win comfortably.  John L managed to beat Jeff McKenna for the first time and got a little revenge for Tony's defeat to Tom Fowle last week, by beating Tom. A slightly disappointing 3-7 defeat which could easily have been 4-6 if not 5-5.

Brandon D v East Boldon Monday 28th September 2015

Brandon's new recruit Ryan Morton got off to a great start winning the first game. The next 3 legs all went to five ends Brandon wining 2-1 to take a 3-1 lead game on the night, for me the outstanding game was Ian Cumpson of Brandon v Val lough with Ian just coming out on top in the 5th 11-9 in what was a Classic!!

A word also has to be said for Ryan Morton winning 3 & all so John Parkin wining 3 well done guys, my M.O.T.M though goes to Val Lough of East Bolden for all her grit & determination no matter what the score she always plays with a smile on her face and is a credit to her Club and the game.

Brandon A v St Gabriels C Tuesday 29th September 2015

Another close encounter between two evenly matched teams, played in a sporting atmosphere, saw the hosts just getting the better of St. Gabriels 'C' 6-4, thanks mainly to man of the match Simon Knopf who won his 3 sets, just getting the better of both Steve Young and Mark Burton in 5 ends, and finishing the match strongly in the final set with his best performance of the night winning in 3 close games against Geoff Young, with some wonderful shots being played by both players. Simon was ably supported by Tony Taylor who won 2 sets, and the pair combined to take the doubles set, which turned out to be crucial to the overall match result, after coming back from 5-9 down to win the third game 12-10, and then just getting over the line 15-13 in the fourth game. Geoff Young was the star performer for the visitors, winning 2 of his sets with the experienced Steve Young and Mark Burton picking up one each and proving too strong on this occasion for Brandon's rapidly improving John Leeman.

Brandon v Lanchester Tuesday 29th September 2015

Brandon turned up with a buzz in their step but I have to say the venue seemed a bit weird the lighting seemed to be pretty dull but hey back to the table tennis.
Teams were
Home John Cook
           Francias Guthrie
           Lindsey Beacham
Paul Henderson
Bill Mclennon
Alex Murphy
Bill of Brandon started them off & lost in his first game 11-9 11-8 11-7 but he played a steady game but come unstuck.
Paul played the second game but started slowly going down in the first game 11-4 11-9 then the come back started he took the next leg 11-7 & the next 10-12 but the wheels fell off unfortunately in the 5th leg going down 11-4 I am sure he will win a five ender before long or even just fall over the line I am sure he will take it any way it comes.
Alex Murphy & Will Murphy played the doubles for Brandon winning the first leg 11-4 at a steady pace & they seemed very relaxed but then went down 11-9 11-5 & 12 -10 in the 4th it was a great display by Brandon but they finally went down 10 to 0.

Paul's M.O.T.M. is a double hit it's brothers Will & Alex Murphy Of Brandon.
