Brentwood League Player Wins Silver Medal for UK VETTS in Six Nations Tournament

Debby Auvache (of Billericay Sports TTC) represented the VETTS in the O/40 Ladies International 6 Nations Team Event in Leipzig (17-19 July 2015). Debby and her teammate Sandra Rider won silver, narrowly missing-out on gold.  Here are some match reports from the VETTS facebook page, posted by Sandra:

The 40's team played their first match against Turkey. We went into a 1-0 lead when I won my first match, then Debbie played her first ever (debut) match and lost to the very talented Turkish Fulya Diker. We then lost a close doubles in four ends, so were 2-1 down. I then played Diker and won 15-13 in the fifth to level the match. Debbie then used all her expertise to take the deciding match 14-12 in the fifth to make the final result to England 3-2. HOORAY !

Our second match was against Germany 2. Their no. 1 played me first and I went two nil up but she clawed it back and eventually beat me 11-5 in the 5th. Then Debbie played their no. 2 and beat her in 4. In the doubles we were 2-0 down and pulled it back to 2 all and lost 11-9 in the fifth. 2-1 to Germany. I then played their no 2 and won it in four to level up the score to 2-2. Debbie then played her heart out and beat their no. 1 three straight, winning the match for us 3-2.

Very proud to be winners of the silver medal in the over 40's team event. Losing to Germany 1 3-2 in the final match. I won my first game against Katona in four then Debbie lost to Smolka three straight. We then lost the doubles in four. Match score 2-1 to Germany. I then played Smolka and played my heart out but lost in four. The final game was Debbie against Katona and she won in style, three straight. What a pleasure it has been playing with the newby Debbie Auvache, such a lovely lady, in her first international representing the VETTS.
