COMPETITION SUMMARY

Highlights of this seasons outside competitions involving Bristol League players.

ASSOCIATION OF COLLEGES NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

SGS College attended the Association of Colleges National Championships as part of the SW Team and walked away with 3 Silver Medals and Bertie Kelly from Somerset won Gold. 

The tournament is the largest College event in europe with over 1600 competitors over 23 Sports all fighting to be the best. 

Sophie Ainsley, Benjamin Greve and Bertie Kelly formed the SW College Team and travelled to Nottingham University in April to take part in the Table Tennis.

VETERANS BRITISH LEAGUE

The final round of matches was held on 11th and 12th February.

There are two Bristol "Associates" teams in the Veterans British League that are formed from Bristol League members.

Bristol Associates 1 are in the Veteran British League (Men) 2022/23 - Division 3 (Group 2). They finished second in the division after 10 matches behind a strong Horsham team and Failand player Daniel Petit had a 72% record.

Bristol Associates 2 are in the Veteran British League (Men) 2022/23 - Division 5 (Group 2). They finished 3rd in the division and Almonds player Abubaker Salehbhai is the standout with a 90% winning record.

In addition there is a Table Tennis Daily Vets team comprised of current or former Bristol League players that easily won their division. TTD player Peter Ives finished with 100% winning record. Failand player Mark Ward and TTD player Scott Cooper both had a 92% record.

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Avon Veterans team won the Vets_2022/23 - Division 2D with 6 wins and one draw against Dorset. All the matches played in March resulted in 10-0 wins. Dave Reeves notably won 100% of his singles in the competition. Emma Harradine, Michele Reeves, Gary Baldwin, Daniel Petit, Mark Ward and Peter Ives all contributed to the victorious team.

Avon County Table Tennis Association | TT Leagues

The Avon Senior team are the division champions for Senior_2022/23 - Division 2C. They won 4 and drew 1 match. Michele Reeves, Emma Harradine, Dave Reeves, Anthony Kent and Peter Ives all had winning records.

Avon County Table Tennis Association | TT Leagues

The Avon Junior team finished last in Junior_2022/23 - Division 2B. Emmanuel De Rozario and Milan Gal had winning records. George Stenner and Ezekiel De Rozario made up the team.

The Avon Cadet team played in the Cadet_2022/23 - Division 2 and finished third in their group. The team comprised  Joshy Branch, Robert White, Andy Wong, Charlie Callus and Millie Cottrell.

NJL BRISTOL
National Cadet and Junior League events are held at locations across the country. Mike Withyman organises the Bristol based event at SGS College WISE campus. This coincides with the Bristol Junior League on five Sundays during the season which is also run by Mike. A further series of matches were played in January.

There are 4 Bristol based teams in the 2 divisions. Two teams each entered by SGS College and Portishead. The groups have now been changed to reflect team strengths following the results from the early rounds of matches.

Previously Matthew Cooper has won all his matches for the Portishead team in Group A and was closely followed by Dan Holland with just one defeat out of 20. George Stenner, Jesse Clarke and Charlie Callus had winning records for SGS in the same group.

Following the reformat there is an SGS team and two Portishead teams in group A. Matthew Cooper won 95%  for the Portishead Matt team who finished in second place behind Cirencester in the group. Dan Holland had an 80% record. The other Portishead team finished fourth and the SGS A team finished fifth. In group B the SGS B team finished third with Joshy Branch finishing with a 90% record.

BRISTOL JUNIOR LEAGUE

The Bristol Junior League results and tables are on TT365.  The final round  of matches to be played in May were voided because some teams were not available and a round robin competition run instead. Portishead B were champions ahead of Portishead C in second.

Joshy Branch led the averages and was undefeated winning 22 out of 22 ahead of Adisha Bale and Louis Baker Vickers.
