The Tournament was held at Cippenham on Sunday December 1st 2018.

In the Veteran Events:-

Dave Croucher beat Tim Cheek in the Over 40s Mens Singles with Terry Lau winning the Consolation Singles while Mary Heffernan beat Sue Hayes in the Over 40s Ladies Singles.

Dave Croucher then joined with Tim Cheek to win the Veteran Doubles. Mary Heffernan and Sue Hayes were the runners up.

In the over 60s event stalwarts Dave Wackrill and Mike Atkinson met in the final. On this occasion it was Dave's turn to win the battle of the defenders.

In the other Doubles events

Rob Hansell and Dave Croucher won the Mens Doubles in an exciting match with upcoming young players Shae Thacker and William Fricker. Much of the play was awe inspiring.

Rob then joined up with Mary to play Shae and Sue in the Mixed Doubles. The match could not have been more tense and exciting with Rob and Mary finally clinching victory 12- 10 in the fifth set.

Sadly there were insufficient entries to run the Ladies Doubles.

Singles events:-

In the Ladies Singles Mary repeated her victory over Sue.

The Mens Singles was won by Robert Hansell. I am told this is the sixth time he has won it and that he is one short of the record held by Ian Musk. He beat worthy opponent Dave Croucher in the Final.

The Consolation Final featured two of the younger entrants and saw Laurence Pennant-Jones beat  Alfie Lyons.

A big thank you to Ken Phillips who organised the event on the day.
