Rule Clarifications for Winter Season 21-22

For info, your League committee recently agreed the following clarification for 2 league rules in light of the change to the league structure where all teams play each other 3 times.

In Section 6 - Competition League Championships

Rule 6.3 – No Player can play against a team in the league competition more than three times unless the constitution deems that teams play each other three or more time in a season.

The League Committee have agreed that when we have a structure where teams play each other more than twice a season rule 6.3 means that a player can play against any other team an unlimited number of times.  However they were keen to remind teams that rule 6.2 on number of playing up wins remains in place – see 6.2 below.

Rule 6.2 - If a player plays for a higher ranking team having already won 6 or more games for higher ranking teams then he/she automatically becomes registered for that team and may not play for a lower ranking team again. Conceded games or walkovers will not count toward the six games

In Section 8 - Match Procedure

Rule 8.8 on Concession: - Any match conceded in advance of the scheduled start by a team unable to fulfil the fixture, or any match claimed under Rule 8.7 above shall have points awarded or deducted in accordance with the following:

8.8.1.            The defaulting team shall have 5 points deducted.

8.8.2.            The team not at fault will be awarded 7 points but this will be enhanced to the number of points attained in the return fixture, if greater than 7.

The League Committee have agreed that when we have a structure where teams play each other more than twice a season the ‘return fixture’ element of rule 8.8.2 is the average of all return fixtures that season, with rounding up in place.  As an example – if game 1 is conceded by Team A v Team B – A is awarded -5 points and B is awarded an initial +7 points.   The return fixture results are 10-0, and 8-2 in favour of B – so the average points is +9, so the original +7 points awarded to team B for the conceded fixture is enhanced to +9 Points in accordance with the return fixture rules.
