Thurston Victors 8-2 Bury Crusaders
26/09/2016 - Ian Freeman
Victors, after a poor start to the season losing away 7-3 to Bury Normans, were hoping for an improved performance in this match at home against Crusaders.
However, things did not start well for Victors when Mick Beale lost a close 5 setter to Terry Thompson.
In the next game Ian Freeman took on Jeff Yaxley and with Jeff two sets to one up and leading 10-8 in the 4th game, it looked as though Crusaders were going 2-0 up, but somehow Ian managed to turn it round winning the set 13-11 and taking the last set comfortably to level the score.
This win seemed to give the home side confidence and they went on all the remaining games bar one, which went the way of Paul Seabrook, who hadn't been at his best in his first two matches, but finally came good, finding his form to beat Ian in a close 5 setter.
Man of the match was Robert Duncombe who won all his games and was only extended by Terry, who took him to 5 sets.
