Stroud League 2016 - 17 season

STROUD LEAGUE

The ‘A’ & ‘B’ Teams experienced a tough season having been newly promoted to the Divisions 2 and 3.

The ‘C’ Team had a mixed but, overall, a good season finishing with a respectable League position and providing Match play for 7 Club members.

The ’A’ just held on to Div 2 status but the ‘B’ finished bottom and will be relegated unless there are the normal strange happenings where other Teams drop out or decline to be promoted!! Your Club Committee also intend to review our possible playing strength for next season to see if there is an argument to present to the League Committee to try and maintain a Div 3 side.

Some of our younger members had seasons to be proud of;  Harry Prescott looked very comfortable against League 2 opposition finishing with 26 wins from 39 sets (66.67%); Joe Collins debut season returned an excellent 11 wins from 36 (30.56%); but George Thomas started his League career with a superb 29 wins from 30 sets (96.67%) – the single loss was 12-14 in the 5th!!! His achievement was recognised by the Stroud League when he was presented with THE DAVE HAYWARD CUP, in its inaugural year, awarded to ‘the Junior with the highest average in their first season’

Very well done George, Joe and Harry.
