Maldon A impressed this week in the first division of the Central Essex Summer Table Tennis League by beating OCS A 4-1. Dawn Baldry won both of her games by the closest possible margin. She beat Frank Hodge 8-11, 11-6, 3-11, 11-8, 15-13 and Dan Berry 11-9, 9-11, 11-4, 9-11.15-13. OCs A also lost 4-1 to Chelmsford A. Simon Jarvis won twice for the Chelmsford side whilst there was a first defeat for Robert Shrimpton. He missed out 11-8, 12-10, 8-11, 11-13, 9-11 to Dan Berry.

Ramsden A moved into second place in the first division of the Central Essex Summer Table Tennis League with a 5-0 victory over Chelmsford B. Gary Ward and Peter Barrett carried all before them with Ward having to dig deep to beat Waseem Qureshi 3-11, 6-11, 11-8,1 1-8, 11-8. An excellent comeback !.Maldon A defeated OCs B 4-1. Steve Scholz and Ciaran Whelan won all four singles although they missed out in the doubles to Charles Yeung and Peter Windley 9-11, 6-11, 11-9, 7-11.

Hatfield Peverel have won the 2018-19 Ladies Knock Out Cup Final in the Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League. Julie Johnson and Jan Fuller ran out 3-1 winners against Maldon. Julie Johnson defeated Kelly Yuen 11-3, 11-9, 13-11 and Dawn Baldry by the roller-coaster scoreline of 3-11, 12-10, 8-11, 12-10, 11-3 to give Hatfield Peverel the ascendancy. The improving Kelly Yuen made her mark with a fine 11-9, 11-9, 11-9 win over Jan Fuller.

Maldon A were the week’s big winners in division one of the Central Essex Summer Table Tennis League. Dawn Baldry and Ciaran Whelan ran out 5-0 winners against Cold Norton A with Dawn Baldry seeing off Tim Cramphorn 11-9, 11-7, 7-11.8-11, 12-10 in the closest game of the night.

Ramsden A produced the most notable result in the first division of the Central Essex Summer Table Tennis League to date. They beat leaders Chelmsford A 4-1in a match where Ramsden came very close to winning 5- 0. Peter Barrett was undefeated whilst Gary Ward only succumbed to Simon Jarvis 3-11, 11-8, 11-5, 9-11, 11-13.

Chelmsford A are the early leaders in the first division of the Central Essex Summer League and they hit top form this week by beating Maldon 5-0. Rob Shrimpton set the ball rolling by beating Ciaran Whelan 7-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-9, 11-9 in the opening encounter and they never looked back after that.

The 2019 Central Essex Summer Table Tennis League is underway. League Organiser Ken Sheard reports “I am delighted that we've got more teams taking part than ever before - that’s five adult divisions and two junior divisions”.
