November Newsletter

Dear Club Members,

Here are the latest news and events running at the club.

The club now has Martyn Reeves, Phoenix He, Fred Warren, Jon McGuggan and Nick Davidson trained as Fire Marshalls but we need a few more. If you can help please contact Nick Davidson to put your name down for the next round of training. It only takes about 30 minutes to complete.

The remaining coaching dates for this month are as follows

Juniors 15th November and the 29th November

Seniors 22nd November

Cost is £5.00 a session payable to the coaching staff.

Can we please remind league players again that matches need to finish as close to 10.00pm as possible. If the doubles are left to play and it’s close on time, agree with the other team to play best of three sets or use the new rule in the handbook if you need more time.

Teams struggling for players, are also reminded to play players up from the teams below them or in the division below them. There should be very few excuses for not fielding a full team.

Please can we make sure that score cards are also submitted as soon as possible.

Finally, Natalie Greening the club secretary, needs to be notified of all re-arranged league matches to make sure space is available for your match.

Peter Cruwys has kindly offered to run an inter club league competition for anyone not in the general league. This will be open to all club members who are interested in a little competition and match play. Please see Peter for more details.

The club is in the process of setting up a club shop to purchase club shirts and other items and we are hoping to have this on the web site shortly. The club juniors that are representing the club, will also have these shirts purchased for them by the club in due course.

Simon Pratten still has a supply of balls and new starter bats for sale, plus anything else that you wish to order. A discount is generally available on all items from Bribar. See their web site at  Simon’s e-mail is

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of millions of moustaches around the world. With their “Mo’s” in the name of Charity. Men raise vital funds and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer and mental health.

It will come as no surprise that a few of these may appear at the club. Martyn Reeves is supporting this event this year and anyone wishing to donate please click on his link  www.  and we will update you on his success in due course.

The club now has a small space on the right hand side of the entrance for all notices. This will contain results and news etc. to help promote our sport. Please do not also forget our web site;

Around the end of season (April / May) we are hoping to run a charity hard bat tournament. This will give everyone the opportunity to play with the same bat, providing a level playing field for all. More details and entry forms follow in the New Year.
